BB13 and BB15 were the only seasons I watched any of, and mostly only at 2am on Showtime's After Dark. I didnt understand a lot going on, but i liked seeing people chilling out, playing games, having conversations, napping by the pong table. Any time I tried watching the main cut-and-paste, super-obnoxious confessional show, I absolutely could not stand it.

This was compounded with 15's editing around the heavily racist and mean "main characters"

Did I get two of the worst seasons? It's good to see and know that the Rachel rigging is an outlier.

The correlation between these two is likely false. The Republicans were the party of 'no' for eight years, no matter the topic. It didn't matter that Dems spent a year and a half reaching out to the opposing side (because they steadfastly opposed everything), watering down the bill more and more to bring in support and form a consensus, and that no matter what they did, how they asked, or what concessions they made, there would still be absolutely no support no matter what for anything.

Salesman: I want to sell you this ramp for your pet to climb into bed for $150.

Me: No, thank you, my pet can jump that high on her own.

Salesman: Well, I'll throw in a free subscription to the New York Times.

Me: No thanks, I read my news online.

Salesman: Well, how about we throw in 10% off on yoga classes?

Me: No.

Salesman: Okay, last offer, we'll reduce the pet ramp to $100 and throw in all of the above as well as a Jeb! Bush guacamole bowl.

Me: No thank you, I'm really not interested.

Salesman 2 months later: It's all your fault. We added all those bonuses to our product and now we lose money on every unit we sell. We compromised and compromised and not only did you refuse to buy anything, you ruined our business as well.

If by offers you mean requests.
Can we get this?
Sure.
How about this?
Er, okay.
We won't sign unless we have these.
But...
We want these added.
But that will ruin things
Do you want us or not?
We can do some of those.
All or nothing.
This is as much as we can do.
Well go **** yourself for not compromising enough.

Scorched earth politics. No compromise, no allowance for any lasting legacy for President Obama.

Eight years being the party of 'no' and when they finally have majority in every house, they can't even come up with good ideas for a bill of their own.

Let me clarify my position a bit more. I would love to support the Democrats, but they have no solutions and they are so mired in their desire for the country to recognize them unilaterally as "right" about Trump and all of his insane policies. But they don't attempt to discuss what the solutions are.

Apply this to the Republicans on health care.

The fake news approach is not to tell any outright lies, just to say a bunch of true things selectively to construct a favored narrative.

I wonder if in 4 years people will still remember that "fake news" was coined by the left before Trump ran with it.

I do remember Fake News before it was co-opted by Trump as a political attack. I remember it was used to highlight conspiracy websites, National Enquirer style rags, opinion stories touted and echoes as either facts or "people are saying," and how Candidate Trump would use these false headlines and clickbaity stories as purported facts on the campaign trail despite no basis in reality.

It was good, but the trailers gave away too much of the movie

Everything dealing with the ship was a big post-trailer letdown, but most of the rest of the movie was spectacular otherwise.

Randomness: I watched Baby Driver right before, where the main character records a bunch of stuff that he isn't supposed to secretly, and Homecoming starts right off with Peter doing the same thing with Happy/Stark stuff and the Civil War battle. It was a very nice transition from one movie to the next for me. I also really enjoyed the solid pre-Homecoming recap of Peter getting his suit and establishing Happy's role in this movie; Peter's awesome reactions to the airport battle; his interactions with Mr. Stark; and then the two months later cut where he's still swinging about but extremely antsy to get some Avengers action.

Looking at the sandwich, the problem seems more the bread than the cheese. As mentioned earlier, you need a bread that toasts well. I've never tried mozzarella on a grilled cheese, but it sounds delicious even if it becomes a leaky mess.

Personal favorite to make with whole grain wheat with a few slices of swiss.

It's pretty simple, actually. He asked them not to reveal his identity. Given that he's actively working to scrub anything newsworthy about himself from the internet, they have no reason to pester some random guy. But they cover their ass by saying that, much like Comey having to reveal that the investigation was opening up again after testifying that it was closed, if future events occur that thrust the guy into the spotlight again, they are not bound to maintain his privacy.

QFT

Kinglicious posted...
Future events that would make him newsworthy weren't the conditions. That would actually make sense.

Him continuing to apologize, be remorseful, and whatever it is that fulfills the "never do this in this town again" requirement were the terms CNN set. None of which make him newsworthy. Certainly nothing that would warrant doxing him.

If they were covering their asses, those wouldn't be the reasons.

Again, they spoke with him and saw his actions after trying to contact him, and know he doesn’t want the spotlight and are respecting his wishes. It’s not blackmail. It’s being respectful of someone who did dumb things behind a different persona and didn’t expect consequences. The President shared his GIF. He wasn’t looking to be put in the national spotlight which, with how many views and discussions about all of Trump’s ****ing tweets there are all day every day, is going to happen when the President tweets you. And I believe CNN was looking to see who was behind it, either out of curiousity or looking to hear the guy’s side of the story, like they would anything of this nature. And because it was their network depicted and there is a real discussion about violence against the media right now, they were just looking to make sure not to worry as well.

Hell, if the guy was proud of what he did and wanted the attention, we for sure would know his name because he’d be on CNN giving an interview, and probably touring the media circuit for a few days as a quick celebrity who made a meme the President tweeted. But he did not and does not and immediately apologized and backed away from his online persona.

I don’t think he deserves that respect, personally, not because of the ‘lol meme’ but from seeing his archived post history which is incidental to the original search.

Guy posts meme.
President tweets meme.
News org seeks out meme creator for comment.
Meme creator doesn’t want attention.
News org still posts a story with bad phrasing, but leaves out the guy’s identity.

It’s just the Barbara Streisand effect.

Inviso posted...
You keep mentioning those four points, but let's be real here...that's CNN covering their ass to try and explain why they're maintaining the anonymity of a guy they refer to as HanA******Solo multiple times.

XD, never thought to flip the chessboard over like that. It makes perfect sense now why they would spell out all the reasons they're not posting his name. "We really don't want to keeping saying "HanA******Solo" but here's why we're not posting his real name."

Eh, full time retail are obligated to force health insurance on you. However, that also means that they've seriously cut back on how many people that they will let be full time, and they watch the number of hours part timers get intensely to insure that they aren't over the average number of hours they work before they get insurance.

It's one of those things that the ACA really made things rougher all around for retail, and in my opinion, it's one of the reasons that it's been on such a slippery slope where people end up not wanting to bother going retail anymore. I never looked it up, but was there anything in the AHCA that was going to address that issue with businesses like that?

This is definitely true. It's been even worse when full-time changed from 40/wk to 30/wk because scheduling really, really got wrecked. People want hours, managers can't give you hours you need because they need to keep you under 27, and we even have a program in scheduling where it will block you from scheduling someone if they even have 27.5 hours. It's insipid and stupid.

the two are literally back to back. nobody is editing anything. here's a picture of the paragraph above and below that entire section.

CNN literally states why they are not publishing his name, lists those four terms, then says that should any of that change, meaning, should any of the terms they explicitly listed above change, they could release it. this is pretty direct language, i don't think there's a loophole out of this one. listing a set of terms and conditions followed by "should any of that change" is a pretty cut and dry case.
